2 Sep 09   Cage pit
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, I built and assembled a wood-lined cage pit at Bridgewood. [more...]
24 Aug 09   Jack McGeorge has died
Jack McGeorge - master, BDSM organiser, US Marine, Iraq UN WMD investigator, and much more - died last week after heart surgery. [more...]
19 Aug 09   This weekend at Bridgewood
PhoenixAmber has written a great blog about the weekend, including the Ladder Rack she and EricStanton built using some of the cut hazel poles. [more...]
12 Aug 09   Bridgewood in August
After glorious weekend weather in May and June, July and now August are being a bit mixed. Despite that I've still been down about one day a week, and managed to dodge the recent rain using the weather forecasts. Most of these trips have been to enjoy the wood (including its BDSM possibilities with a new volunteer), but I've also almost finished the new toilet. [more...]
15 Jul 09   Nature Deficit Disorder
I came across Coed Hiraeth in Wales, a woodland that is being developed for various "health and wellbeing" activities, from informal wilderness days and volunteer weekends, up to outdoor therapy sessions. Their common theme is that we're missing something we need by not being in contact with the natural world, and that woodlands are an ideal place to redress this imbalance. [more...]
1 Jul 09   Making a "flyprod"
Electric fly swatter bats have been around for a few years, and they're a tempting toy for BDSM use. When I first got one, I did wonder about adapting one to be a bit more like a cattle prod, and I've finally got round to it, with all the components from Maplins or B&Q. [more...]
21 Jun 09   Visitors
Yesterday I had half a dozen visitors to Bridgewood, and the weather held out for the picnic and showing people round the site. Having proper car access at last makes a huge difference, and I've taken the "not yet open" disclaimers out of the FAQ now too :)
15 Jun 09   Picnic tables
Now the access is sorted out, I'm moving on to the "little things", like somewhere to sit and have lunch. A-frame picnic tables are very in keeping with the forestry nature of Bridgewood, so that's what I've gone for. [more...]
7 Jun 09   Access work almost finished
I went to Bridgewood this afternoon to see how the work providing car access onto the site is getting on. I've taken some pictures, and it's now almost finished: the work with the heavy machinery is now backing towards the entrance gate, rather like working back to the door when you're painting a floor! [more...]
7 Jun 09   Saving Private Atkins
Tommy Atkins has been a nickname for the ordinary British private solider since the 18th century. I almost wrote a blog about his erasure from D-Day at the hands of Hollywood last week, but this story (from the Daily Mail unfortunately) has all the figures. And our uninvited Queen not only served in the war (fixing army lorries), she's head of state of Canada too, the third largest D-Day contingent.
