Yesterday I had half a dozen visitors to Bridgewood, and the weather held out for the picnic and showing people round the site. Having proper car access at last makes a huge difference, and I've taken the "not yet open" disclaimers out of the FAQ now too

Now the access is sorted out, I'm moving on to the "little things", like somewhere to sit and have lunch. A-frame picnic tables are very in keeping with the forestry nature of Bridgewood, so that's what I've gone for. [more...]

I went to Bridgewood this afternoon to see how the work providing car access onto the site is getting on. I've taken some pictures, and it's now almost finished: the work with the heavy machinery is now backing towards the entrance gate, rather like working back to the door when you're painting a floor! Tommy Atkins has been a nickname for the ordinary British private solider since the 18th century. I almost wrote a blog about his erasure from D-Day at the hands of Hollywood last week, but this story (from the Daily Mail unfortunately) has all the figures. And our uninvited Queen not only served in the war (fixing army lorries), she's head of state of Canada too, the third largest D-Day contingent.

I dropped into the FAB munch in Manchester for a couple of hours this afternoon. First munch I've shared with a Dalek! and quite busy for their second event.

A picture in honour of the ever versatile duct tape, which was involved in both of my last two posts. It sticks, it hangs bin liners to make bins, makes arrows on the floor, holds seats onto pony carts, and metres and metres of it can make padded handles!

I've had some requests for more information about the cart I used at the Preston indoor pony day, and so I've taken some more pictures and tried to explain how it all fits together. The parts are all readily available from DIY centres (eg B&Q) and bike shops (eg Halfords), and you'd only need a hacksaw, vice, drill, and metal files to build one.

There's been a rush of Open Air BDSM event dates floated recently, and I've added an events list to the OAB section of the Bridgewood website. Currently this has the confirmed dates that have been announced on IC or on the various mailing lists, but no dates not yet finalised (eg the West Wales dates that have been suggested.)
