Nicolay Bessonov

Someone very kindly sent me the URL of some of Nicolay Bessonov's paintings the other day, featuring female wretches (well, witches in context ) imprisoned and in hard bondage.

This is part of Bessonov's gallery of paintings on his much larger Inquisition Art website, which includes lots of scans of historical woodcuts and engravings of witches and witch trials.

There's also a general Bessonov site, and some of those paintings have a clear BDSM or fetish influence too.

I wouldn't say that Bessonov is Gerome, but he's worth a look.
