Nemesis II

Posted by Tanos on Sat 8 May 04, 6:31 PM

Last night lili and I finally made it to Nemesis. We were both deeply impressed to put it mildly. A huge amount of effort has clearly been put into the whole experience, and the attention to detail throughout is striking. Above all, it is a welcoming, BDSM orientated event with a minimal of rules and fuss.

It's located in West Yorkshire, a fair way off the M62. However, the driving directions provided were excellent and we got straight there in about 40 minutes from Manchester. Once we parked the car (in the dark and rain) as promised, one of the staff members appears with a golf umbrella and shows us to the door, waits until it's unlocked and then disappears back into the gloom. Then there's a proper cloakroom, and offers of a tour round the venue for new visitors.

The kit is excellent (as you'd expect from Nemesis) and is not just static pieces but part of a process of developing new ideas: last night was the first outing for a rotatable rope web that they're still fine tuning. Power sockets are available (and they're prepared to move things round to accomodate) and there's a good mixture of equipment with spotlights and in dark corners. DMs were about, but without being intrusive - the only "intrusion" was a "sub blanket" at the end of the scene. How can you beat that? :)
