"The Damned United"

Just go back from seeing The Damned United about Brian Clough's 44 days at Leeds United, the latest drama based on recent history with a screenplay by Peter Morgan and Michael Sheen in a leading role. (The others have been Frost/Nixon, The Queen, The Deal.)

Despite the controversy and disapproval from Clough's family, I thought it was rather good. The one thing that was no secret about Clough was that he had a big mouth, and yet the film humanises him if anything. And he had a lot to shoot his mouth of after all. He wasn't wrong when he said "I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one."
