Nottingham Galleries of Justice

Galleries of Justice in Nottingham has been the site of a gaol since 1449, and the court house, police station and prison have been converted into the UK's largest museum dedicated to the history of our judicial and penal systems.

Criminal Court:
The Victorian criminal court chamber and some earlier forms of physical punishment.
The Prisons:
Cells-blocks and dungeons carved out of caverns under the prison, dating from the middle ages to the 19th century.
Restraints:
Stocks, irons, straitjacket and ECT machine used to control prisoners over the ages.
