Tanos's pictures (233)
In addition to the pictures below, there are pages dedicated to images of
Prisons,
Slave Markets, and
Coffles and slave chains; and
raw Photostreams with some
of my photographs.
| 30 Jan 10 | Picnic tables with frost | |
| 30 Jan 10 | Woodland ride in the frost | |
| 1 Nov 09 | Start of the North Ride Start of the North Ride, taken from the T-Junction with the Middle and South rides on Hallowe'en 2009. Up until it was widened and opened up to the sky, it had just been a narrow track through the woods. | |
| 27 Sep 09 | Buzzard, in the Glade at Bridgewood A common buzzard, perched on one of the tree stumps in the Glade. I got this one picture before it decided to fly off into the trees. The buzzards have been spotted several times in the area of the Glade and the adjoining stretch of the Middle Ride, and opening up these spaces has probably encouraged them, as they prefer the edges of woodlands rather than dense areas. | |
| 27 Jul 09 | Radio box | |
| 27 Jul 09 | Whipping-frame, picnic tables, and camp fire Camp-fire of seasoned hazel logs in the Glade, near the picnic tables and a tripod made of freshly cut hazel poles. | |
| 13 Jul 09 | Hazel whipping frame and cuffs Tripod in the Glade, made of freshly cut hazel poles with leather cuffs. | |
| 19 Aug 09 | Ladder Rack Built by EricStanton and PhoenixAmber, and mentioned in this weblog post. | |
| 20 Aug 09 | Cabinet of Curiosities This Trompe l'oeil ("trick the eye") was painted by Domenico Remps in about 1675, and is in the "Opificio delle Pietre dure" in Florence. It's an oil painting, but it appears to be a Cabinet of Curiosities, holding the collection of interesting objects amassed by a renaissance gentleman. Presumably, it was meant to hang on a wall and be a "virtual" stand-in for such a collection. | |
| 25 Oct 05 | "La Grande Odalisque", Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, 1814 Ingres spent much of his early career in Italy and his idealised "Grande Odalisque" of
1814 shows his debt to classical art, especially sculpture.
| |
| 21 Aug 09 | "Jupiter and Thetis" by Ingres Thetis begs the king of the gods to intercede on behalf of her son, Achilles. | |
