Reality Hack

Posted by Tanos on Thu 19 Mar 09, 5:04 PM

I was in Manchester city centre at lunch time today, and I managed to take some pictures in the sunshine and see the "Reality Hack" exhibition of Andrew Brooks' photographs of the city at Urbis.

Reality Hack is an exhibition of photographs showing Manchester "back stage", including "Angelic View", an Underworld-like shot from the Town Hall clock tower across to Beetham Tower. There's a better version on Brooks' website but the full-size print in the exhibition is 2 or 3 metres square and these web images don't do it justice at all. I was so struck by it I bought one of the smaller versions they have on sale. Most of the other images are either underground, or inside roofspaces, including one showing the decayed state of the Palace Hotel clock, which is all neat and tidy on the outside.

This is one I took today of the face of the Town Hall clock tower that looks towards Beetham Tower, and if you look closely you can see the angel in the exhibition picture.
