Pheasants, Photos and Plans

I went to the wood on Saturday and did some more work laying out woodland tracks (rides) and taking some photographs of signs of spring. I've also written a
page describing outline plans for the wood and where I'm going with it.
The Middle Ride through the centre of the wood is now complete in that it's cleared of ground shrubs and small trees to a width of 2 metres or so for it's 300m length. I do need to do some work with a chainsaw progressively opening it up to let more light in, but it's already usable and makes it much easier to get around. I've also laid out the start of the Circular Ride, so I now know which area to rope off and encourage shrubby growth at it's junction with the Middle Ride. I've started some experiments there with poplar cuttings, which in principle should grow well as a screen if cut and simply driven into the ground.
I also finally managed to get some pictures of the pheasants, along with some more of the trees themselves.
As you can see, for an hour or so around lunchtime the weather was glorious and hopefully a foretaste of a good spring and summer.
