Club Lash returns

Posted by Tanos on Sat 12 Jun 04, 10:01 AM

Club Lash returned to central Manchester last night after last years venue problems at the Green Room. They've moved to the 2nd Friday (rather than Saturday as before) and to a smaller venue, but after last night's event, lili and I have no complaints at all.

The new venue is The Tunnel in the orphaned stretch of Whitworth Street opposite Piccadilly Station. This is part of Legends / The Tunnel / The Outpost, a gay venue which hosts some regular leather events and flies the brown and yellow Bear Pride Flag. It's been refurbished recently, but the same venue also used to host some of the pansexual fetish events in Manchester before Lash started in 1998.

Down the stairs, the usual friendly Lash welcome, somewhere to leave coats and big mirrors for last minute bow-tie straightening ;) were all there. (lili managed to look stunning in her black and gold Chinese dress without any last minute adjustments - all that time faffing in her room had obviously paid off :))

Into the club itself, there was a compact bar area, a small dance floor, both with some seating round the edge, then some archways where a lot of people mixed and talked, and then the play area itself, with a smaller selection of the always excellent Roissy kit.

Personally, lili and I liked it better than the Green Room, since it was more intimate and better suited to meeting and talking, and milling around. (Whereas the number of tables in the Green Room made it harder to move around.)

The Tunnel venue had another unused floor below, so there is room for expansion if numbers permit. Judging by last night's turn out (it was pretty full by the time doors closed, without being heaving) this may well happen.
