LateXtra and Midlands Fetish Scene magazines
Posted by Tanos on Wed 15 Jun 05, 1:31 AM
I got the recent copies of LateXtra and the new Midlands Fetish Scene last week - two free magazines with BDSM / Fetish news and articles.
Skin Two publishes LateXtra quaterly, as a free complement to it's
£10-a-copy magazine, "Skin Two." LateXtra is funded purely by
advertising, and the ads take up 14 of the 24 pages in the current
issue (Summer 2005, Number 20.) There is one article, about Strapon
Jane and a relatively small amount about her pay-to-view website; two
double-page event reviews with lots of photos: Club Pedestal in London,
and the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney; and two pages of
news, editorial and "advertorial." There is a list of the fetish shops
and clubs
stocking LateXtra in the back of each issue, but you can also buy
individual copies of LateXtra from www.skintwo.com for £1.50 including
postage.
One of the news stories in LateXtra is the launch of Midlands Fetish
Scene (MFS), also a free quarterly magazine, with it's first issue for
May-July 2005. MFS is the same size as LateXtra and superficially
similar, but on closer inspection you realise that MFS has a lot more
articles and news: only 8 pages of ads vs 14 in LateXtra. This quarter's
MFS has a two-page interview with yours truly about IC (no, the picture
isn't me in drag ) and articles on the Goth scene, corsets, ropework,
TVs in the "real" world, some personal writing about BDSM by Blue
Velvet, and quite a lot of news items (with URLs for more details.) You
can find more about MFS, including a list of stockists, at their website
www.fetishsceneuk.co.uk
